DESCRIPTION
In the Dutch Anderson Drainage, an undersized culvert, (LO-2: SENW S28 T33 R28), was replaced with a new appropriately sized culvert. After the undersized culvert, LO-2, was been removed, the channel was widened and sloped to engineered specifications. The new culvert, LO-2, was positioned and backfilled with specified rock and fill. Approximately 1000' of road surface was armored on either side of the new culvert, (LO-2: SENW S28 T33 R28), crossing to help minimize sediment introduction into the creek. The base soils in this road are very light and stay suspended for a long time. Reduction of these fine suspended particles will help reduce sediment introduction within the watershed. This project will improve the ability of the road surface to effectively drain surface water from the road. Armoring the surface will help reduce sediment introduction into the stream. Areas along the road surface had critical area plantings (mulching and seeding) in the fall, to help stabilize the soil and help minimize airborne dust and encourage the natural recolonization of native plant species.
