Aeneas Creek is the only perennial spring fed tributary channel in the Okanogan Basin that reaches the Okanogan River all year round. Prior to completion of this project, the channel was inaccessible to spawning and rearing salmonids due to a small width to depth ratio. The Colville Tribes have created fish passage opportunities for this channel by creating passage through decadent, unused beaver dams. This was an effort to encourage use by steelhead adults and juveniles and out-migrating juvenile Chinook, as well as a resting spot for migrating spawning adults.
