Several properties were purchased to protect Okanogan River mainstem spawning areas and as a potential side channel creation site to support rearing steelhead spawned in the Okanogan River. This project will create side channels on some of the mitigation properties purchased in 2010 and 2011. The side channels will be fed by ground water. If some of the projects are successful and if river water is available we will pursue a flow-through connection with the Okanogan River and supplement the channel with ground water only in the highest temperature summer months.
