DESCRIPTION
This project addressed fish passage at Mission Falls in Omak Creek to increase the habitat quantity for juvenile and adult ESA list summer steelhead. The project spanned multiple years and had multiple aspects of design including structure installation and rock removal. The project resulted in access to 17 miles of habitat. During the spring of 2014, even at a below average stream flow (25 to 30 cfs), a total of 10 adult summer steelhead successfully navigated the 1/8th mile reach through the Mission Falls gorge which was previously impassable. Assuming the gorge remains unaltered, over time summer steelhead production in the Omak Creek watershed should increase measurably.
Remove anthropogenic barriers upstream from Mission Falls to increase the habitat quantity for juvenile and adult ESA list summer steelhead.
